(Week 3) The window openings to the dormer and velux to the front slope are trimmed out of the rafters. The running of electrical cables and water supply/waste pipes (first fix) are installed.
The partition walls are erected to form the configuration of the loft space to form separate bedroom/study and shower/bathroom as applicable.
(Week 4) The windows will be fitted and the loft shell is insulated prior to plaster boarding. The tile cladding to the exterior of the rear elevation will be finished with roofing felt, battens and vertically hung slates or tiles. Guttering and fascias are fitted.
(Week 5) The stairs are fitted. The flat roof surface is completed with three layers of roofing felt. Walls and ceilings are lined with plasterboard. Internal doors are fitted The plasterers will arrive to skim the whole loft.
(Week 6) All the joinery will be fitted (architraves, skirtings etc ). The made-to-measure staircase will be finished by fitting the spindles and handrail which closely match the existing to create the impression that your new loft conversion is part of the original house.
The electricians and plumbers will return to fit all the electrical fittings (lights, power sockets, smoke detectors, extractor fan ) and the bathroom suite and radiators.
Your loft will be completed and ready for final finishing with decoration, tiling, carpeting etc.
